How speaking practice differs
Pimsleur's core lessons are 30-minute audio sessions, one a day, built on call and response: you hear a prompt, say your answer in the pause, then hear it confirmed, and new words come back at growing intervals. Each level is 30 lessons. With Premium, Voice Coach scores you as you repeat or recall the phrases a lesson taught. Conversation Coach adds AI-guided conversations with grammar and pronunciation feedback, in Japanese, Latin American Spanish and French, with All Access.
Tooter starts from the conversation. You pick a lifelike AI tutor by language, accent and coaching style, choose a session of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, and talk the whole time. Your tutor corrects pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and fluency as you go, at your level, and can explain in your native language when you're stuck. Guided lessons build the phrases you then use in conversation.
What each app costs
On pimsleur.com in the US, Premium (one language) is $19.95 a month or $149.95 a year, All Access (every language) is $20.95 a month or $164.95 a year, and Audio-Only is $14.95 a month. You can also buy a course outright and keep it: list prices are $150 for a 30-lesson level, $575 for the full Spanish course and $798 for All Access Lifetime. The 7-day free trial needs payment details and renews automatically, and the first lesson is free.

Languages and devices
Pimsleur teaches 50+ languages to English speakers, but depth varies: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian have five levels (150 lessons), Modern Standard Arabic and Hebrew three, and most others, including Turkish, one level of 30 lessons. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, the web, Alexa, CarPlay and Android Auto, and lessons can be downloaded to use offline.
Tooter teaches 12: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Russian and Turkish. It's an iPhone app today, with Android coming soon; you can build a speaking plan and subscribe on the Tooter website, then sign in to the app with the same account.
