How speaking practice differs
Speak's method is a loop: learn phrases native speakers use, practice them until they're automatic, then use them in conversation with the Speak Tutor AI. Its lessons include videos with bilingual instructors, and its Free Talk roleplays include a voice-first Immersive Mode you can interrupt, like a real conversation.
Tooter starts from the conversation. You pick a lifelike AI tutor by language, accent and coaching style, choose a session of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, and talk the whole time. Your tutor corrects pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and fluency as you go, at your level, and can explain in your native language when you're stuck. Guided lessons build the phrases you then use in conversation.
What each app costs
Speak has two paid plans, billed monthly or yearly. On the US App Store, Premium is $17.99 a month or $83.99 a year and Premium Plus is $39.99 a month or $164.99 a year. Speak is free to download with a 7-day free trial that needs a payment method, and it doesn't describe a free plan after the trial.

Languages and devices
If your first language is English, Speak teaches Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, Italian and Chinese, and it teaches English to speakers of 15 languages. It runs on iPhone and Android, with no desktop app.
Tooter teaches 12: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Russian and Turkish. It's an iPhone app today, with Android coming soon; you can build a speaking plan and subscribe on the Tooter website, then sign in to the app with the same account.
